Strategy
The Problem
To create a brand identity that reflects the restaurant's message and cuisine.
Proposed Solution
I chose a Jamaican restaurant for personal reasons, and I thought it would be fun to create a restaurant that caters to different dietary needs.
I wanted to use bold colors and imagery to communicate the restaurant's message and tone.
Research & Development
I researched Jamaican restaurants within the US and Jamaica.
I did more visual research on Pinterest and created a moodboard that conveyed the overall aesthetic, colors, and fonts I wanted to use for the brand.
Ideation
Sketches
I chose a custom logotype that reflected the bold African roots within Caribbean culture.
Work in Progress
Initial Concepts
Based on the sketch, I tried different ideas for the logo's layout.
Iterations
Revisions
I kept the logotype simple and added a mascot the "Jammin' Man" to bring more liveliness to the brand.
Next Steps
I created a brand style guide, website, and apparel (t-shirts and aprons) for the restaurant's crew.
