Project Overview
Who: Client- Founder of startup online Christian school.
What I did: Branding, logo, collateral & promotional design.
Goals: To create a visual identity for a startup online Christian school that specifically serves students with learning disabilities.
Process:  After our initial strategy call, I began with exploration and research. Next, I chose a direction and designed the logo. Then refined the designs based on client feedback. I finalized the project by creating a brand style guide and promotional assets.
Tools used: Figma, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and pencil & paper.

Strategy
The Problem
To create a visual identity for a startup online Christian school that specifically serves students with learning disabilities.
The client had a desired color scheme they wanted to stay within; blues, yellows, and browns.

Proposed Solution
I wanted to create a visual identity that felt safe, inspiring, and trustworthy. I also wanted the school to be perceived as professional and capable. The colors the client wanted to use worked great with this concept.
In the logo design process, the main theme was inclusivity and faith.
Research & Development
I researched online and physical Christian schools to better understand the industry and what would be appropriate.
I completed visual research on Pinterest and created a moodboard that conveyed the overall aesthetic, colors, and fonts I wanted to use for the brand.

Logo Concept 2.
Initial Concepts
Both concepts emphasized the idea of the students and staff working together with their faith at the center. The first concept was a “birds-eye” view of everyone around one figure, Christ. The second concept took a more minimal approach to the same concept using the cross symbol.

Issues
The second concept, while simple, felt too generic and not specific to the brand.

Final Logo Concept.

Iterations
Revisions
The client liked the overall direction but wasn’t in favor of either of the concepts.

Next Steps
After discussing what could be improved, we landed on the concept of Christ being the foundation and the staff and students being the other rocks that all work together in the learning journey of the students.
I created a badge logo that added to the academic feeling of the brand.
I pushed the brand further by creating a full logo suite, collateral, and promotional assets.

Conclusion
Goals: To create a visual identity for a startup online Christian school that specifically serves students with learning disabilities.
Outcome: The Carpenter’s Academy is a brand that hopes to bring quality online education to students with learning disabilities. With their faith at the center, they strive to learn, love, and live differently. Through research and an intentional design process, I was able to communicate the message and mission of this brand.
I learned: The importance of collaborating with your client at every stage of the process and letting them be actively involved in the process, after all this is their brand and business; no one knows it better than them.
